Oracle EPM / Essbase: News on the On Premise roadmap!

Is there a future for “On Prem” solutions at Oracle? Make no mistake, Oracle is actively working on the future of its EPM On Premise solutions. Better yet, we have had confirmation that the firm is preparing to release new versions at the end of 2020!

As a Trusted Partner, Quartz Insight was able to access the latest Oracle EPM roadmaps from the Corp ’! Evolutions of Essbase, Planning, OCI or OAS … here are the main new features that we wish to share with you today:

Who Said Essbase Is Dead?

Not us anyway! As we told you in May 2019 during our conference “Quel Avenir pour Essbase”, Oracle is once again proving that it wishes to perpetuate the place of “On Premise” within its offers. The company is unveiling a brand new Essbase 21c this fall, which will be available in France at the end of 2020!

In this version, Essbase reinvents itself, more modern, more user-oriented and decidedly more powerful thanks to an improved calculation engine, designed to support large volumes of data. Enough to keep its lead over the competition! 21c is a same version between the Cloud and On Premise. No more feature gaps!

Planning & HFM: Visibility until 2031

This is news that will reassure many of you concerning Planning and HFM: Oracle confirms that version 11.2.X, released in December 2019, will be supported “at least” until the end of 2031 and will continue to benefit from updates at the same rate as its Cloud equivalent (once per quarter). This new visibility allows you to define a real long-term strategy for your Oracle EPM platform, whether it is On-Premise, in the Cloud, or on the move to the Cloud.

Hybrid Cloud with OCI

OCI, Oracle’s Cloud IaaS, is more than ever at the heart of the editor’s EPM solutions modernization strategy.

Essbase 19c is already available there as well as Essbase 21c soon. Oracle’s IaaS is now positioned as a real alternative, allowing cloud-cautious customers to opt for a “Hybrid” solution. It allows you to integrate HFM, Essbase, Planning, OBIEE, ODI, FDMEE and all your specific developments in this IaaS. It will be able to collaborate with Oracle EPM Cloud offers.

Bye-bye OBIEE, Hello OAS

You must have heard about it: OAS (understand Oracle Analytics System) is now replacing OBIEE On-Premise. The new version is available now and is ISO to its SaaS version: OAC (Oracle Analytics Cloud). Its data-visualization component can be downloaded in Desktop version from the publisher’s site. Its capabilities are amazing. More information on this in a future dedicated article.

“On-Premise” has a bright future ahead of it

You will have understood, Oracle realizes that “On premise” weighs very heavily on its license sales, despite the multiplication of its Cloud solutions. The 100% cloud is therefore not for tomorrow, at least in the EPM world … You can make your existing solutions sustainable and adopt your own strategy.
